Columbus Regional Healthcare System is proud to announce the selection of Carla Parker Hollis as the new President and CEO of CRHS, effective as of January 6, 2015. Dr. Sam Wheatley, Chairman of the CRHS Board of Trustees, made the announcement today.
“We welcome Carla to our organization and to the community," Wheatley said.
"She is an insightful and competent leader, with significant healthcare experience. We know she will immediately connect with our organization and with the Whiteville community."
“We took careful consideration in the selection of the System’s new leader,” he continued.
“We are confident that Carla’s experience will enhance ongoing strategies to increase primary care access, improve convenience and affordability of outpatient services, reduce Emergency Department wait times, and build on the strengths of our surgical programs.”
Hollis is presently Vice President of Duke Raleigh Hospital, located in Wake County, North Carolina, a 186-bed facility with a full continuum of clinical services and a medical staff of over 500 physicians. She has held a number of positions within Duke Medicine, including Director of Marketing and Communications, Chief Planning and Business Development Officer and, recently, Interim President of Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Hollis received her Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, graduating Summa cum Laude. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Association of Professional Women, and the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, she is equally committed to community service. Currently, Hollis serves on the Board of Directors for the Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs, is on the Advisory Board of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and is the current chair of the Midtown Raleigh Business Alliance. She, along with her husband Bill and son Jake, enjoy many outdoor activities including boating, snow skiing and running.
Hollis will begin her tenure as President and CEO of Columbus Regional Healthcare System on February 16th, 2015, replacing Duane Erwin, J.D., FACHE, who has served as interim CEO since May 2014. She and her family will be relocating to Columbus County and look forward to joining the Columbus Regional Healthcare family and being active members of the Whiteville community.
