Throughout the journey, cancer patients have the help of a registered nurse with a background in cancer care. These patient navigators, as we call them, guide you through diagnosis and treatment, assist with scheduling appointments and communicate with care providers.
Your treatment team may include medical oncologists and surgeons specializing in cancer care. You may also encounter other medical professionals such as oncology certified nurses, research nurses, and counselors. These providers work together to through quarterly Cancer Committee meetings and monthly Cancer Conferences to share their expertise and discuss treatment plans for difficult or rare cases.
Our patients also have access to integrative medicine specialists who can recommend complementary treatments to help manage stress, symptoms, pain and anxiety and promote good health. Additionally, Donayre Cancer Care Center offers genetic counseling to help patients learn about their cancer risks.
