Columbus Regional Healthcare System Launches Patient Family Advisory Committee (PFAC)
WHITEVILLE, NC — Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS) is proud to announce the establishment of its Patient Family Advisory Committee (PFAC), a vital initiative aimed at strengthening the connection between the hospital and the community it serves.
“CRHS’s PFAC acts as a symbolic bridge, linking the voices of patients and families with hospital leadership,” said Jeremy Simmons, CRHS Chaplain. “By inviting community members into the conversation, we can better understand and address cultural, social, and practical needs that might otherwise be overlooked. This collaboration transforms healthcare into a shared endeavor—built with the community, not just for it—fostering trust, mutual responsibility, and ultimately better care for all.”
Formed in January 2025, the PFAC is designed to support CRHS’s mission to improve quality, access, safety, and the overall patient experience. By engaging patients and families as active stakeholders, the committee plays a key role in enhancing the health and well-being of the region.
“We deeply appreciate the community’s willingness to share their insights and experiences,” said Megan Sargent, CRHS Chief Nursing Officer. “It’s a privilege to meet with this team regularly to discuss what’s working and where we can improve. PFAC’s contributions have already proven invaluable, and I’m confident they will continue to shape the future of care in our community.”
Rachel Dunbar, Chief Operating Officer, added, “It’s essential that we involve community members in guiding our healthcare organization. Their feedback helps us stay true to our mission and continuously improve.”
