Whiteville, NC – On May 5, 2025, Columbus Regional Healthcare System will celebrate a remarkable journey of nine decades of providing quality, excellent healthcare to our community and making lasting impacts on lives of countless individuals and families!
To commemorate this special day, Columbus Regional teammates will enjoy a 90th Birthday Celebration on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 2pm in the Columbus Café. The public is welcome to join us.
On May 5, 1935, Dr. Warren Miller, General Surgeon, who had purchased a 15-room house situated on four acres of land, opened Columbus County’s first privately owned hospital. As the saying goes, and the rest is history! Our 90th birthday is a significant milestone, recognizing Columbus Regional Healthcare System's humble beginnings and continued commitment to growth and serving our community and region.
What started as a 15-room hospital, ninety years later, has become a destination center for the most state-of-the-art surgical procedures in our area. It is a beacon of light in our community where our most precious possessions are born, and beloved come to get well.
Columbus Regional employs over 600 people, making it the second largest employer in our County, seen as quite the economic engine of our community.
“This anniversary is a time for us to reflect on our past, celebrate our achievements, and plan for future growth and innovation,” said CRHS CEO, Jason Beck.
If you see any Columbus Regional Healthcare System teammates on Monday, May 5th, wish them a Happy Birthday and thank them for the excellent care they give their patients daily.
