For Freda Gore, serving as Chair of the CRHS Board of Trustees is the ultimate way to give back to the hospital that her family has depended on for years. Gore is a Columbus County native and the Facilities Manager at CresCom Bank. She has been a board member since 2010 and recently succeeded Dr Sam Wheatley as chair, serving a two-year term.
“I’m a big supporter of our local hospital,” Gore says. "My two children and five grandchildren were born at Columbus Regional, and my family members and I have had several procedures there. I’m humbled and honored to serve as board chair. We have a great group of trustees and a wonderful administrative team, and everyone works well together.”
Gore will oversee a variety of projects during her term, including the expansion of the Donayre Cancer Care Center and relocation of urgent care services.
“Columbus Regional’s goal is to be more than a hospital,” Gore says. “We want to help people live healthy lives, as well as provide excellent, close-to-home care when they are sick. This is the best way we can give back to the community.”
Additionally, Dr Sam Wheatley has assumed the part-time role of Chief Medical Officer for CRHS. In this new job, Wheatley will be working with the medical staff and clinical quality outcomes working closely with the CRHS Hospitalist group.
