Nurses are angels in comfortable shoes. ~Author Unknown
As we start the first full week of May, Columbus Regional Healthcare System is celebrating National Nurses Week.
Here are three nursing facts to impress your friends and coworkers this week:
Nursing has always been an integral part of the overall patient experience here at CRHS:
Things changed since the “early days” here in Columbus County!
Here at CRHS, we employ many full-time and part-time nursing professionals including Registered Nurses (RN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP). Each nurse contributes specific skill sets that are integral to the quality and care plan of every patient.
Which leads us to the American Nurses Association’s theme for this year’s Nurses Week celebration: “Ethical practice, quality care.” What does that mean in terms of patient care right here in Columbus County?
We decided to ask a few of our nurses in diverse areas of patient care to provide some insight into their role and professional experience within our healthcare network. Here’s their perspective on what it takes to be a CRHS nursing professional within an organization that strives to be more than just a hospital.
"As a chemotherapy nurse, I value the personal and intimate care we provide in this healthcare facility. Personal relationships established with our patients are valued not only in the healthcare setting, but in the community as well.
The sincerity of care provided by the nursing staff at CRHS is unparalleled. I appreciate being associated with a team of nurses dedicated to providing optimum care and setting precedence for nurses to come."

"CRHS is like my second home. I love the people I work with and enjoy serving my community. Working at CRHS, you will learn many skills from experienced professionals. You learn and teach every day."

"There is not a better bunch of folks anywhere to work with! They are always there when you need them both personally and professionally.
Our nurses show a lot of loyalty. CRHS helped me obtain both my ADN and BSN degree through the Educational Assistance Program. I also have had the privilege of working with our diabetes patients in the Diabetes Education Program. I truly believe it has made a huge difference in the health of our county and the lives of our diabetes patients.
Finally, our Nursing Leadership supports the nursing staff and cares about each person as an individual. They value input from frontline staff and know how important they are to the facility!"

During National Nurses Week and throughout the year, CRHS is proud to celebrate the role our nurses play in delivering the highest level of quality care to our patients. Every day, our nurses contribute to our culture of compassion, positively impacting the health and well-being of our community in immeasurable ways. We thank them for all they do and for making CRHS more than a hospital.
